Joanna has a long history in healthcare, having worked as a Registered Nurse, primarily in Home Health Care for over 25 years. While working as a nurse, Joanna developed a strong belief that a holistic approach to healing is preferable to focusing solely on physical symptoms. This approach recognizes that emotional, psychological, and environmental factors directly and indirectly impact the body’s ability to heal.
Joanna’s interest in Eastern medicine, particularly acupuncture, began when she struggled with infertility. Like many women in that situation she placed her hope in Western medicine which offered incredibly advanced technological treatments, but they were invasive and expensive and could potentially lead to undesirable side effects. Nonetheless, she tried numerous fertility treatments and procedures, none of which was successful. Acupuncture offered a gentle and inexpensive alternative. And it was fascinating. How could inserting tiny needles at specific areas on the body affect one’s health so profoundly? She began acupuncture treatments and the next IVF was a success! Not surprisingly, her passion for acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine only grew stronger and she realized this dream needed to be fulfilled. Nursing was extremely rewarding, providing amazing opportunities to teach people how to cope with illness and also to be a part of their healing, but Traditional Chinese Medicine offered so much more.
Shortly thereafter Joanna enrolled in the Midwest Collect of Oriental Medicine. She studied full time while continuing to work as a Home Health Nurse. Four years later she graduated from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine with the combined degrees of Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Master of Science in Oriental Medicine. She had previously earned her BS in Nursing from Northern Illinois University.
Joanna’s philosophy can best be described as “East meets West”. She believes Western medicine absolutely has its place but prefers a more natural, gentle solution if possible. Acupuncture and other Eastern treatments offered by Joanna, such as cupping, gua sha and nutritional guidance offer tremendous healing potential. These treatments stimulate the body’s natural resources, relying upon the body’s innate ability to heal itself. She also believes prevention is best and Chinese Medicine can detect and adjust subtle imbalances in our bodies before they become illness. Joanna will work closely with each client to determine the most appropriate treatment plan for them.
Joanna is available at Journeys Healing & Wellness Center on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00-4:00pm. She has a very flexible schedule and may have a few evenings available as well as possible Saturday availability. If you are interested in an appointment or have any questions please contact Joanna at 847-975-2571 or email her at email@example.com

Diane is a Certified Natural Health Consultant, Registered Natural Health Practitioner, International Fellowship of Chaplains Licensed Chaplain, and Crisis Response International Disaster Responder. Diane’s interest in health and wellness started with her 1st pregnancy and desire to ensure the health of her family. Initially it was about making healthier food choices, and physical fitness. But because of the increased use of chemicals, EMFs and EMRs, environmental concerns, etc. Diane found that trying to stay healthy was becoming increasingly complicated. After her husband, Jerry, had gone through cancer twice, she was introduced to the founder of New Eden School of Natural Health and Herbal studies. She enrolled in the classes immediately – just months prior to Jerry’s 3rd diagnosis of cancer, which the oncologist said was caused by his original chemotherapy. When the doctors determined that standard cancer treatment had nothing left to offer, Jerry researched natural health options and chose the Budwig Center in Malaga, Spain. They spent 3 weeks there, receiving treatments not found in the US, as well as an amazing education, coupled with hope. Based on traditional versus alternative cancer therapies, she is happy to share a unique perspective and passion for making educated decisions about health issues.Recently Diane was introduced to a bio-tech medical device from Europe which increases circulation to the cellular level. Increased circulation enhances: general blood flow, delivery of oxygen and nutrients and elimination of wastes, cardiac function, sleep management, stress reduction, physical fitness, strength, endurance, and energy.Based on the well-documented scientific evidence for effectiveness, as well as her own personal experience, she is pleased to bring this technology to Journeys.
Diane is currently available Mondays 10:00am-1:30pm, Thursdays 4:00pm-6:00pm, and Fridays 10:00am-3:00pm by appointment, Walk-Ins Always Welcome!

Steven Karki, Massage Therapist
Wellness has always been in my life- I was active in sports and scouting in my early years and add to that, ten total years combined military service in the Navy and Army along with twenty one years as a Firefighter/Emt.
The “Healer” role started about twelve years ago while working for a medical supply company. Eight hours a day at a computer is not good for any body and the standard headaches/backaches were starting to take a toll. I tried chiropractic work with limited results so someone suggested trying massage. After randomly selecting someone local out of the phonebook I had my first ever massage session. The therapist barely worked the upper half of my body! She worked mostly the legs and feet with an approach known as myofascial release. Two sessions later, my headaches were gone! “This is what I want to do”- and thus the road to my massage therapy career began.
I graduated from East-West Healing Arts Institute in Madison, WI in 2008 as a Licensed Massage Therapist with an Eastern style background. For the last nine years I have been working for a busy spa chain and have added the titles of Personal Fitness Trainer, Exercise Instructor and Reiki Master/Teacher to my repertoire. I am currently working toward a Medical Qigong Certification. This is where the “Multi Therapist” career path has led me to Journey’s Wellness. My belief in the “one style does not fit all” approach to helping clients has evolved into more of a blended approach to massage. Depending on the clients’ needs, injuries, and symptoms, I may use several techniques such as standard Swedish, deep tissue, acupressure, tui na, reflexology, cupping, and or reiki to achieve the best results. Post treatment, stretching exercises, medical qigong, and/or body weight exercises may be discussed with the client at their appointment to try at home to achieve maximum results. A happy client is a healthy mobile client.
